The Nether is one of the main methods of travel on the server. For every 1 block in The Nether, it is 8 blocks on the Overworld. Highways were made so players can travel distances easily.
The Nether highways extend along all major axes for at least a few hundred thousand blocks in Overworld distance. Highways also exist on the diagonals, but they are much shorter. Many early Highways were dug by Primis and SirSpaceCow. The longest and most traveled road is the Z+ Highway, which reached the world border after months of work by the Southern Diggers on April 27, 2020.
On May 30th, 2019, over 50 withers were placed on the highways by 2f4u_. This lead to proper highways to be built with obsidian. The withers created a massive crater at 0, 0. However, the withers were constantly destroying the highway from shooting their wither skulls. This lead to players pointing fingers at each other for griefing the highways. However, it was found out to be the withers placed by 2f4u_.
On June 4th, 2019, a lot of the wither skulls were not being despawned. This lead to a massive TPS drop, going low as 2.5 TPS. At this point, many players decided to hunt the withers down and kill a lot of them off. This event was recorded by Conga0 and can be seen here. This now happens frequently if areas are not loaded in for a long time.
